Osvaldo graduated in Biology in 1997 at the University of Santiago de Compostela. After that he moved to Madrid where in 2000 he graduated as Informatics Technical Engineer at the University of Antonio de Nebrija. He worked for 5 years at the Prof. Alfonso Valencia's Protein Design Group in the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología (CNB-CSIC), developing new algorithms for protein structure prediction and for the evaluation of the quality of predicted 3D models (CASP & CAFASP).
He moved to the CNIO in 2005, where he started working at the Bioinformatics Unit. He is responsible for the coordination of all the bioinformatics training activities at the CNIO. He also teaches different aspects of bioinformatics in the following Masters: Máster en Bioinformática y Biología Computacional (Universidad Complutense de Madrid), Máster y Programa de Doctorado TADSI (Universidade de Vigo) and Máster en Biología Molecular, Biología Celular y Biomedicina Molecular (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid).
Furthermore, he is responsible for the bioinformatics part in several research projects developed by different CNIO laboratories. The work he does here involves the analysis of NGS data (RNA-seq, MethylC-seq, Chip-seq) and includes the development of new tools specific for this analysis.
